When selection of a point is required the point selection command dialog appears on the command dialog
panel . The current point is displayed in an edit control. As the cursor moves the 3D point position is
updated in the edit control. A 3D point can be typed in at any time as the selected point.
In point selection mode the cursor movement is interpreted into a 3D plane movement. This can be the
XY, XZ or YZ plane. The active plane is known as the Cursor Plane .
The cursor plane can be changed
either from the main menu, the command dialog, or via a right click on the mouse with the cursor in the
CAD area (for more information on the cursor plane see - Cursor Plane menu ).

Other edit controls may also exist in the command dialog
depending on the command in operation. For
example when using commands where a sequence of two points are selected (such as active object command - e.g. object creation and reorientation) the command dialog provides controls for relative or
absolute point selection.
Typing a 3D point value into the point edit control is equivalent to selecting the point with the mouse
cursor. This point is accepted as the selection. Snap Tools can
usually be used together with point
selection. When snap tools are used the dialog box is usually enhanced with additional edit controls. Often
in these cases the point selection edit box becomes read-only because direct point input is restricted, but
the current value (i.e. the position of the cross cursor) is still displayed.
