Match Selected
Previous Top Next

The purpose of the 'Match Selected' command is to match a selected object to one or more of its connected objects. This means that only the dimensions and position of the selected object are adjusted. The connected objects' sizes and positions are not affected, although their resultant intersections with the selected object may be considerably altered when the design is 'Rewelded' .

How is the 'Match Selected' process initiated?

It is initiated either from the '
Match menu ' commands or automatically after some operations, such as creating or editing a part using the edit part dialog box . The dialog box has options for initiating the match process when is is closed. One way to initiate the match is therefore to open the edit part dialog on the required part (double click the part or use the 'Edit|Edit Part' command), select the 'Match Part' option and close it.

The Match Selected Procedure

When the 'Match Selected' operation is initiated on an object the object becomes the 'Target' object and the match dialog occupies the
command dialog . The target object is the object to be matched next in the process and is highlighted in a cyan color (light blue). The object/s to which the target part it is to be matched (the match sources) must be selected from the command dialog in the 'To' and 'And' combo boxes. As these parts are selected they are highlighted in 'Red'. If the target object already has match sources selected they are pre-selected. All other objects in the connection chain  are displayed lowlighted grey.

The actual matching of the object to its selected 'match sources' does not occur until the 'Match' button is pressed in the command dialog. This button remains disabled (grayed) until the required match source objects are selected.

Displace - The displace option defines the kind of displacement to use in adjusting the target object position to make the match - See: the Matching Options.

Section - The section option defines the type of section adjustment to use in adjusting the target object section to form the match - See: the Matching Options.
