The 'Match From Selected' command initiates a matching process that traverses along a connection
chain in a single operation, matching each object to the previous. The initially selected object is used as the start
point for the match operation but it never becomes the target part itself so its position and dimensions are
never altered. Instead all parts are matched up to it (if confirmed by the user) and then the parts futher
down the connection chain are matched to them. The command can therfore be used to setup the match
dependency order (see also: match dependents ) for a whole network of connected objects (often the
whole design).
How to initiate a 'Match From Selected' operation?
To initiate the matching process first select a single object in the view, then select the 'Match From
Selected' command from the 'Match menu '. The matching process
is started from the selected part.
Alternatively open the Edit Part dialog on an object, select the 'Match From' option and close the dialog.
The match from process is initiated automatically.
The 'Match From Selected' Procedure
The match command process appears exactly the same as the 'Match Selected '
command except that it is
initiated with the target part as one of the connected parts to the selected part. As the 'Match' button is
pressed in the command dialog to accept the match the process automatically moves on to the next object
in the connection chain until the chain is complete.
The current match can be aborted at any time using the ESCAPE key.
