The Axis Snap tool is one of several Snap Tools . Its purpose is to
snap the orientation of the currently active object to a cartesian axis (X, Y or Z axis). The axis
snap command becomes available whenever the
current prompt is for the selection of a 3D point and an object is active in the 3D CAD designer.
When the axis snap command is selected the button remains depressed. When the mouse is then move
back into the design area the active object dynamically snaps
into alignment with the nearest cartesian
axis to the mouse pointer. The next mouse button press selects the point.
The object and point selection process can be aborted at any time using the escape key (ESC), or the
point selection axis snapping can be unselected by pressing the depressed axis snap button again. If one
of the other snap buttons is selected the new snap replaces the current snap.
The dialog used during axis snapping is identical to the normal point selection dialog.
