Operating Systems
Sheet Lightning Version 5.2 and Version 5.2 Lite is compatible with all Windows operating
systems (95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP). Version 5.0 was first released on 18 January 2003 (see the download page) and the latest version 5.2 on 2 February 2004. If you wish to be kept informed on the latest click here to send an mail request and you will be added to our inquirers database.
Demonstration Capability
The Sheet Lightning Version 5.2 download is demonstration software with limited capability. It is
a full working program with some of its functionality disabled. The demonstation program is enabled for only limited design output. Enough functionality is provided to test all the features of
the program including the 3D design and unfolded pattern CAD export (export of data directly to a general CAD system). The demonstration program is limited to the following:
The design has no more than a single piece.
There is no oblique (i.e. skew) on the piece.
Note: the demonstration version can still be used to create the more complex designs internally,
but the output of these designs is restricted. The full version download instructions are delivered on purchasing the product
Why Register?
There are 3 good reasons to register:
When you register Sheet Lightning you are provided with download instructions for the full version
and a license key-code that unlocks it and gives you the legal right to use the unique power of the program for personal or commercial purposes. This means you can create designs with multiple
interesections and/or oblique/skew offset. It therefore enables the development of: breeches, divertors, lobster-back/segmented bends, tees, complex one-off and multi-piece designs,
twin/multi wall ducting, chimneys, hoppers etc. (see the design examples gallery: Examples). There are conditions to the use of the software outlined in the agreement on the installation page.
Registration gives you unlimited use of the software for commercial, educational or other use. Your contact details are used to keep you informed on any developments or facilities associated
with Sheet Lightning (updates, upgrades etc).
How Do I Register?
Sheet Lightning registration can be purchased by credit card or other meams through a secure shareware outlet - see the download page. Check the registration site for details of payment.
Downloading Sheet Lightning
The download links on this page give immediate access to the Sheet Lightning demonstration program in ZIP file format (Download Now - 7.0MB). You can also access the shareware
program through some of the shareware download sites on the internet. You will need WINZIP or some other unzipping program installed on your computer to open the ZIP file. Use the
SETUP.EXE file to install Sheet Lightning in Windows. This can be done directly from WINZIP. Once installed Sheet Lightning is accessed through the options on your start menu. The
computer requirements for Sheet Lightning vesion 5.2 are a Pentium PC (or equiv) or better, with recommended 64MB Ram, 15MB of disk space and Windows (95/98ME/CE/2000/XP). The
program is able to transfer data to your general CAD system/s. Additional memory may therefore be required to accomodate both programs.
Plotting & Printing
Sheet Lightning Version 5.2 has full printing and output capability in the form of direct export to
CAD, DXF file output, or direct printing of full size patterns and printing of images. The printed patterns can be partitioned over any number of printer sheets, thus allowing any size of pattern to
be output through any size of printer. Alternatively the program will automatically interface to your CAD system (see next).
Interfacing to CAD
Sheet Lightning Version 5.2 interfaces directly to a general CAD system using the ‘Export to
CAD’ command, or it can export to any chosen application by browsing for the program executable file. It also has DXF file capability.
Training
We have recently added an instruction page describing the procedure for creating some specific designs. These instructions have a new step-by-step format with accompanying files that is
proving effective. The designs so far published but we intend to expand it considerably for the new program release.

History
Sheet Lightning has developed a world-wide pedigree in the sheet metal fabrication industry in
many countries throughout the world since its first release in 1990. Over the ten year period from 1990-2000 it was sold as a high value specialized program for in excess of $4000 US Dollars!.
For many companies that use the program it was (and is) their best kept secret, giving them a unique competitive edge. Version 3.60 is now an obselete product.
Due to the ageing nature of Version 3.60 and the demand for the software raised by its release
to the shareware market Revcad Software began development of the new version in December 2001. Version 5.0 first beta version was released on 3 July 2002, 9 weeks behind schedule but
well worth the wait. The final release was issued on 18 January 2003 have gone through a full alpha and beta testing programme. The program is now on version 5.2 and is up to date with
modern CAD technology and in many ways pushing new boundaries.
RevCAD Software are perhaps a little biased, but they believe no sheet metal designer or
