The help file includes a number of design example tutorials designed to develop the skills required to get the full benefit of the program (see the tutorial index for a full listing ). The tutorials section contains procedures for creating specific designs using Sheet Lightning's powerful CAD environment. The design procedures may be accompanied by images at various stages and the actual design files are available either in the examples directory of the installation or via the Revcad website. The design example tutorials conform to the following format:

Design example tutorials format:

2. Description of the design.
3. URL to design archive file (or location of file)
4. Design details - dimensions.
5. Signature, Date.
6. Design techniques introduced by the procedure.
7. Final design image.

The procedure section (8) is the main section and includes a point by point description of the design procedure accompanied by images and references to  the various design stages stored in the design archive file.

The URL (3) may provide a web link to an archive file containing the design created by the particular tutorial. The files are usually ZIP archive files containing a number of Sheet Lightning design files (GRD files) with the same name but with an appended number defining the design step. For example an archive file called 'TEE.ZIP'  may contain design files TEE1.GRD, TEE2.GRD, TEE3.GRD ... TEE(n).GRD. Each design file show the design at the various stages of design as referred to by the design procedure.

To view the designs in the archive files click on the URL link in the tutorial to download the file and save it to a convenient local directory. Open the ZIP file using an unzipping utility program (e.g. WinZip or PKZip) and either (1) extract the files to a local directory then open them with the 'Open' command in Sheet Lightning, or  (2) it should be possible to simply double click the design file from within the archive program and open it directly by invoking Sheet Lightning.
