Creating a Construction Line

Command: Edit|Create Construction Line
Icon: graphic

Description: Creates a new construction line by selecting two points in the CAD view to fix the two ends positions of the center line.
Conditions: The CAD view must be in the basic
object selection mode .

The procedure for creating construction lines is identical to the procedure for creating parts (See
Creating a Part ), including the command dialogs  used, except for the following:

1. The 'Create Construction Line' command is used.

2. When the construction line is snapped to objects using the Snap Tools a link can be formed between it and the object that owns the node, but the difference is that the commands prompts for confirmation that the link is to be formed. This means that construction line ends can be placed at coincident points with object nodes without forming any link. Subsequent dragging of the part will then leave the the unconnected parts and construction lines in position.

3. When the final end point is selected the command does not open the edit part dialog on the new part or initiate a matching process/command with the connected objects (matching can only be applied to objects with section size and possible adjustment).
