Command: Center Line Snap graphic

The Node Snap tool is one of several
Snap Tools . This commands becomes available whenever the current prompt is for the selection of a 3D point.

If the node snap command is selected then all available nodes are highlighted (colored green) for one of them to be selected. In effect the 3D point selection is suspended while the a selection of one of a node is made. For the point selection to be resumed one of the nodes must be selected.

A  node is selected by moving the mouse pointer close to a highlighted node and pressing to select it. If none of the highlighted nodes are close to the selected point then the system issue a Beep and node selection continues.

The node and point selection process can be aborted at any time using the escape key (ESC).

Once a node is successfully selected the CAD prompt returns to the point selection. However the movement of the cross cursor (representing the current actual 3D cursor point) is now restricted (i.e. pinned) to the selected node point The cross cursor therefore remains static and does not move with the mouse pointer. The mouse button should be pressed again to confirm the node point selection.

The Node Snap Dialog

The node snap dialog replaces the point selection dialog when the node snap command is selected.

These are the dialog fields of the center line snap dialog:

Object: - The object combo box is used to select the object on which a node is to be selected with the Node combo box.

Node: - The Node combo box can be used to select a node instead of using the mouse pointer.

Section of the Point

Once the point is selected using the mouse pointer or the command dialog combo boxes the designer returns to point selection mode. The cursor is locked to the point until the selection is confirmed. If the node selection was part of an object creation or object relocation process then a link is made between the created/moved object and the object owning the selected node (i.e. the two nodes are linked together).

If the object that is created or moved is a construction line then confirmation of the link is requested. If denied then the moved/created construction line is dropped at the selected node point but no connection is formed.
